I have the honour to submit for the

signification of His Majesty's pleasure the following

Ordinance intituled:-

An Ordinance to amend further the Stamp Ordinance,

1921.

The enclosed report by the Attorney General

explains the objects and reasons of the Ordinance.

3.

The question of the further revision of the

Ordinance of 1921 has been under consideration for some

time and owing to representations from the public a draft

amendment bill was prepared in 1928 and published for

information, as a result of which various criticisms were

presented by bankers and other firms and associations in

the Colony. A Representative Committee under the chairman- ship of the Attorney General was appointed in April this year, to consider the amendment of the Stamp Crdinance with

a view to preventing evasion of the stamp duty on share

transactions and of estate duty on shares forming part of

the estates of the deceased persons. Their report was
